Beaumont Primary Academy

Year 4

 Welcome to Year 4!

Our Year 4 classes, Kestrels,Sparrow Hawks and Owls, are taught by Miss King and Mr Saville and Mr Rhodes/ Mrs Wroe.

 Articles 28 and 29 (United Nation’s Children’s Rights Charter)

Every child has the right to a good quality education where they can develop their personality, talents and abilities to the full.

This year we will be archaeologists delving into the mysteries of the Anglo-Saxons, Vikings and Ancient Egyptians; geologists meandering down rivers from source to sea; geographers exploring the country of Canada and hydrologists singing in the rain! Not to mention having a daily diet of mathematics, reading and writing!

Our curriculum is always centred around a key text in English which links to our topics. Our engaging, vocabulary-rich key texts will include a range of non-fiction and fiction. The children will have the opportunity to write reports, diary entries, missing chapters, letters, descriptions, instructions and more! Each week, they will have a clear purpose in writing and learn new skills – such as adverbial phrases, inverted commas and expanded noun phrases – which will enable them to become amazing writers who wow their readers!

With our exciting variety of texts, we encourage a love of reading in class and enjoy hearing about the children’s adventures in reading at home. The children currently choose one library book and one reading book to take home each week.

In Year 4, we love taking our learning outside. Bring your wellies for weekly Forest School sessions where we might build a lair for a monster, make Viking runes or even construct our own Anglo-Saxon houses using the things we find!

Needless to say, we are fired up and raring to go!  Bring your enthusiasm, a smile, a hunger for learning and a great attitude to join us on our Year 4 magical ride.
